Good Day Friends,
I want to update everyone on some fundraising successes that were made possible thanks to your generous hearts and your love for animals. Some of you sent money when we headed for Houston and I cannot thank you all enough for your generosity! Your money was donated to several organizations in need or making an impact in their community.
Austin Pets Alive - My Mom and I are official volunteers and I also got other members of my family on board to help with many aspects of rescue efforts. We're looking forward to continuing supporting them as a team.
Austin Wildlife Rescue - This amazing organization took in countless displaced animals before and after the storm.
All Sato Rescue - A little background, I went to school in PR and lived there for several years, so the island and this organization have a very special place in my heart. My dear friend and Puerto Rico resident Cathy Pyle has volunteered with them before. Together she and I were able to help the director find flights for her pups stuck in PR after Hurricane Maria. Many people I know were affected by the storm and the animals, unfortunately, are having a really hard time as they've been abandoned as people flee the island and their unlivable homes. This will help them fly 200-300 animals from PR to their rescue groups in the Northeast. They also have a wish list of necessities. Please visit the link if you would like to donate items.
Island Dog Rescue - My childhood friend Paula was on the phone telling me she didn't know how to get her parents'dog off St. Thomas when they evacuated. They needed a crate, shots, and health certificates. Due to the destruction on the island, there was no vet or working humane society, but I located a group providing shots, health certificates, and supplies for free to the sister islands affected by Irma (St. Thomas and St. Johns). After Hurricane Maria, the St Croix Animal Center was destroyed. Island Dog Rescue was able to evacuate hundreds of animals to the states. I'm happy to report Paula's entire family finally made it safely to NY on 9/30/16 (after Irma and Maria). #USVIStrong
SPCA of Brazoria - TX-based animal shelter, located where they experienced so much flooding and so many volunteers came in to help rescue.
Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation - Located in Miami Shores, FL the people at this organization were working just as hard as the Texas volunteers, evacuating animals, rescuing, reuniting, fostering, and adopting before, during and after the storm. They are a network of volunteers coming together to make an impact in their community.
