Our Story

My girlfriends and I are traveling to Cuba in July after we celebrate Kim's birthday in Key West! I can't wait to explore this beautiful island and experience everything this rich culture has to offer! Upon researching our travel, I read several concerning posts from visitors describing the dreadful living conditions of dogs and cats, both strays and pets.  As a lifelong animal lover, I refuse to believe we can't make it better for the domestic animal population of Cuba. Throughout my life, I've given my time and my heart through volunteering for our paw pals in many different ways and this cause seems like a perfect opportunity to write another chapter.

After much research and communication with locals, I have discovered there are few small groups of individuals working toward more humane conditions through spay/neuter clinics and public education. The Spanky Project in particular caught my attention. This organization is really making a significant impact and facilitating long-term sustainability. They were even recommended by the HSUS International.

I’ve been communicating with representatives for the Spanky Project and they’ve been awesome enough to invite me to visit their home base, meet their vets, and tell their story. Follow us on our blog.

Check out our visit to Cuba!
