Hurricane Harvey

It's bad...really bad out there for everyone and everything. Wildlife, farm animals, pets, and people's lives forever changed. I am in Austin and our local animal no kill shelter (Austin Pets Alive) has really been proactive in stepping up their game. They've evacuated countless animal shelters from Houston and surrounding areas.

Austin is only a couple hours away and people have been horrified at what they see on the news.

All the animal lovers came out of the wood work and some are heading into ground zero.

Please ask me where can I donate? I don't have an answer for you, but would say anywhere right now. Look at those groups that are not as big as the Red Cross and see how you can help them. Message them on Facebook. So many organizations and shelters for women, children, wildlife, farm animals, and horses are stepping in.

But for now, we are off to Katy, TX tomorrow, This is our latest post on Facebook. You can follow us on FB or here:

Hello Friends and Family!

Heading to Houston into ground zero with a group of brave ladies from Austin, tomorrow, Thursday 8/31. Anything can change last minute, but we have our plan in place to arrive in Katy, TX where we will link up with Austin Pets Alive, Safe K-9 Transport, and my cousin (who lives in Katy). We also will consider heading to Cypress to assist animal rescue teams and the Cajun Guard on the ground. Our mission is to deliver supplies to (both rescuers, evacuees, and for animals), transport animals back to Austin, and jump in to assist along the way where we are needed. Unclear how many trips we will be able to make, but we will use social media to update everyone.

If you want to help us this is how:

1. Donate here: paypal.me/shellyhaines helping us fund gas (expensive and getting harder to come by), emergencies, food, supplies needed for rescue - all monies left over will go to a 501 C3 organization.

2. In Austin: Drop off specific items TODAY 12-8pm @Southern Bunny Shaved Ice Food Truck - 2101 S 1st Street, Austin, Texas, 78704

- Epic Bars/Cliff Bars -Baby Wipes/ Clorox Wipes -Potty Pads -Towels/Blankets -Slip Leads/Leashes/Collars -Dog food/Cat food wet/dry

3. Consider adopting or Fostering from Austin Pets Alive. I cannot tell you how many animals they have transported to Austin from affected areas. They have cleared out numerous shelters.

4. Donate to any animal shelter in the surrounding area or Horse or wildlife rescue in Houston/Austin. Horses and farm animals are also suffering greatly and are harder to transport.
