First off, I need to give a big shout out to Laurie Conway, Logan Stewart, and Julimar Rosado for all the Amazon gifts! WOW! You guys rock! A lot of new shipments are coming in over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned. Everything should be in by July 1st as we are leaving for Key West on July 5. #thankful
Puppies and kittens are the best...who doesn't love them?! You'll have your chance to help them out because while the Spanky Project is focused on humane population control through large and small spay / neuter campaigns, they also help care for the little furry pals so they have a chance to live without suffering. You'll see kitten and puppy milk replacement on the wishlist (powder form) and there's a good reason.
When the team is set up for their clinic, people from all over bring in puppies and kittens they find in the street. Remember there's not an animal shelter or any place that can help, so the people that care about these babies have no where else to turn. Often, the babies are not weaned and the team needs to feed them until they can work out a foster situation or find them a home. In addition, people often dump kittens at the home of one of their Havana-based volunteers because they know they are the animal protectors. That's what they call us folks down there, "animal protectors." :) Though it's not part of their scope of work at Spanky, their volunteers will find foster homes and will need to provide them with milk replacement until they can be weaned. Again, the same theme here is its almost impossible to find milk replacement...even if the people had the money.
